Our ruffled Urli is a sculptural centrepiece that earns its place in any room it enters. Twenty deep radiating ridges fan outward from a smooth central well, each one hand-chiselled to a precise depth that catches light differently throughout the day.

The central well is shallow and smooth: designed to hold water and floating petals, tea lights, small stones, or simply nothing at all. It is complete on its own.

Makrana marble is not ordinary marble. Its exceptionally high calcium carbonate content gives it a cool, pure-white tone and a natural translucency that no factory-cut stone can replicate. In certain lights, it glows. In all lights, it demands attention.

Each urli is carved entirely by hand by stone masons in Agra, India and no two pieces are identical.

How to Style — 5 Ways

  • The Classic Urli: Fill the centre well with water and float rose petals, marigolds, or jasmine. Place a single floating tea light in the centre.
  • The Diwali Centrepiece: Float diyas in the well, surround the base with fresh marigold heads and scatter dried rose petals.
  • The Minimalist Statement: Leave it completely empty on a console, sideboard or a bookshelf. The ruffled carving is sculptural enough to stand alone.
  • The Festive Table: Use as a centrepiece bowl for sweets, chocolates, or mithai at celebrations.
  • The Seasonal Ritual: In spring, float cherry blossom petals. At Christmas, fill with pine cones and small baubles.

Product Story

Urli is one of India's oldest decorative vessels — a wide, shallow bowl traditionally used in South Indian homes and temples to float flowers, fruit, or oil lamps on water. At Diwali, at weddings, at every threshold that mattered, an urli was there.

Our version reimagines the form entirely. The ruffled, sunburst carving is carved by the same community of Agra stone masons whose descendants made the Taj Mahal. The marble is sourced directly from the Makrana quarries in Rajasthan: the same quarries that have supplied India's finest buildings since the 3rd century BCE.
