About Us
Modern Indian. Crafted to last.
Vaarsa means inheritance
Vaarsa comes from Marathi. It translates to heritage, the things we are handed and choose to pass on. That is the whole idea. We make homeware in brass, kansa, Makrana marble, Indian teak and handwoven textiles, working with master artisans across India, for homes in the United Kingdom.
How it began
Urvi Agrawal learned to decorate fabric with hand embroidery at ten years old, taught by her mother for a school competition she went on to win. It was her first memory of making something that mattered. Engineering and business school followed, then a move from India to the United States, and later to London. Through all of it, home stayed the place she expressed herself. The right vase. The mix of block-printed linens. The objects carried back from every trip to India.
London was the last piece. Its South Asian community, proud and connected, made it the right place to build something rooted in craft. Vaarsa is her homage to that inheritance, from her mother and from India.
What we stand for
We work with master artisans in Moradabad, Agra, Jaipur, Dehradun, West Bengal and beyond. Brass is brass. Kansa is kansa. We describe the material honestly and name the place it comes from. If a piece does not work in a real home, it does not ship.
Every object supports an artisan livelihood. Handmade craft is under pressure, and choosing one of these pieces keeps a skill and a family trade alive. That is why we are deliberate about what we make and where it goes.
Who we make for
Two homes, one shelf. The South Asian diaspora in the UK, who recognise the craft on sight. And design-led British buyers who value provenance, material and the hand of the maker. Both find themselves in the same pieces.
