Ajji's Ghee Patra by Vaarsa London
The Keeper
Every Indian kitchen has a ghee pot. None of them is photographed. They sit next to the salt, slightly dented. This one is made of Kansa, the ancient bronze that Ayurveda calls the healing metal. Non-reactive, naturally antimicrobial, and so gorgeous that you will want it as a table centerpiece, rather than forgetten in a cupboard. Designed in collaboration with Ajji's Ghee, a small batch homemade ghee based in London, the first ten pots ship with a 250g bottle of Classic Ajjis Ghee in a branded gift-ready box.
To complete the checkout, you will be redirected to Ajji's secure order form. She dispatches the pot and ghee together so it reaches you fresh.
The Collaboration
Two founders. One small kitchen object.
Chetasi runs Ajji's Ghee from her London kitchen. Small batches, slow churn, made from her grandmother's recipe. Ajji means grandmother in Marathi.
She came to me looking for a vessel worthy of the ghee. We had been thinking of a ghee pot for months. They met at the right time.
The first ten ghee pots leave us bundled with a bottle of her ghee, packaged in her branded box. After the ten sell, the pot returns to its own shelf and Ajji's ghee is available directly from her.

The use
Why use a ghee patra?
Stored in plastic, ghee absorbs the smell. In glass, it goes hard. In steel, it dulls. In Kansa, ghee stays alive: golden, grainy, scoopable. The lid keeps the smell in. The metal keeps the ghee in shape. This is the pot ghee has lived in for as long as ghee has had a name.
The Details
In the box.
Dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing. Kansa darkens with use, that is oxidation. To restore the shine, a paste of lemon and salt works as well as a metal cleaning Pitambri powder.
Questions
Things people ask.
Why is checkout on a Google Form?
The first ten ghee pots are a collaboration with Ajji's Ghee. Chetasi handles the order and dispatch directly so the ghee reaches you fresh. After the first ten sell, the pot returns to Vaarsa checkout.
When does the ghee bundle end?
After ten pots sell. If you are seeing the Ajji's badge above, the bundle is still available. The bundle will always be availabel on request!
Can I buy the pot without the ghee?
Not at the moment. The first ten are bundled. Once the bundle ends, the pot will be available on its own.
How long does shipping take?
4 to 5 working days from order confirmation. Ajji's Ghee ships from London.
Can Kansa go in the dishwasher?
The pot is dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing where possible. Kansa darkens faster with detergent cycles, and the patina is part of how the metal lives over time.
Will the pot darken?
Yes. Kansa oxidises with use. Many people prefer the patina, but it can be restored to a bright finish with a paste of lemon and salt o metal cleaning powder like Pitambri
